Trident
Combat Diver Delivery Craft
Underwater Transportation
Background
SKEG and Icarus Marine are collaborating on the development of the Trident, a 11.2-meter submersible designed for combat divers. The project is slated for completion by the end of 2025.
The Trident boasts a maximum operating depth of 40 meters and can accommodate two crew members and ten divers. With twin diesel engines, it can reach speeds of up to 40 knots on the surface. When semi-submerged or fully submerged, its speed is maintained at a steady 6+ knots.
The Trident's compact design, measuring 11.2 meters in length and 2.32 meters in beam, allows it to fit within a 40-foot container. Ergonomic seats ensure comfort for both crew and divers, while wet cargo compartments provide easy accessibility from the exterior.
Built to rigorous safety standards, the Trident's hull is constructed using a single-skin vacuum-infused epoxy/carbon fiber design with a Kevlar-reinforced keel. This construction adheres to DNV-GL rules for high-speed light craft (GL HSC 2012).
To ensure optimal operation both above and below the surface, the Trident incorporates a new computerised control system. The Switch Activated Rapid Access (SARA) system provides a revolutionary one-push activation method for aided autonomous navigation, whether submerged or on the surface.
